Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life
“Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life” is the title of an excellent book by Dr. Wayne Dyer. But it’s also a powerful motto I am often using in my daily life. All circumstances in our life have first been thoughts in one way or another, whether we want to admit it or not. Realizing this gives us enormous power: The power to change any circumstance we are in. Granted, this is sometimes easier said than done, but if you really think about it, you can always change your thoughts about a life situation, and the situation will change.
Everyone of us has been in situations that were harsh: There was an argument and we felt powerless, we had the feeling we were disadvantaged, or downright treated unfairly. This would be a valid reason to get angry, feel depressed or desperate, but it’s often wiser not to succumb to such negative emotions and turn them into something positive. I often imagine that I look at the situation from above, and see the smallness of it. I then fast forward five minutes and see how everything is back in a state that I enjoy. This gives me the feeling that it’s often really not worth getting upset in the first place, and that I should not waste my energy. Instead, I can think about the future I imagine for myself, and focus on that.
What you think upon grows – so try this simple technique next time an unfavorable situation occurs and I am sure that it will pass much faster. Let me know about your experiences!
My Favorite Technique to Get Motivated
The alarm clock goes off at 6:30 AM, it’s still dark outside, and you’re just about to hit snooze and wish you had another hour to sleep. Do you know the feeling? I certainly do. Everbody does! Feeling unmotivated is perfectly normal at times, but it’s very important to net let it drag you down. If you start your day off on the right foot everything goes easier, so why not take advantage of a simple trick that will hel you shake off the morning blues? I have found an easy way to overcome this feeling, one that I applied for the last five years or so with consistent results.
Here’s how it works:
- When the alarm goes off, set it to snooze, but don’t close your eyes again to sleep another five minutes. FLie on your back, force yourself to keep your eyes open and look at a point on the ceiling.
- Imagine all the great things you’re going to accomplish today: Get out of bed happily and energetically, contribute to a warm and loving atmosphere with your family. Maybe finish an important project at work or in school, and top it off with a workout that will get you energized. Imagine all these things in vivid, bright colors, but with your eyes open.
- After a minute or so of basking in positive imaginations, turn off your alarm clock (the snooze button, otherwise it goes off afterwards when you’re in the shower), and get up.
Why should I keep my eyes open? Because if you close them and visualize with closed eyes, you will quickly fall asleep again. It’s sometimes hard to remember to apply this technique, just because the temptation of sleeping in a little longer can be huge, but once you have gotten the hang of it, you will see that it really works.
This technique has proven extremely successful for me. Just try it and see what happens.
Have a happy and successful day!
The Benefits of Taking Action in Self Improvement
Hi and welcome to my personal development blog! I have been involved in self improvement for over ten years and have read or completed almost all available books and programs. Initially, I got started with Dale Carnegie, Jim Rohn, and Tony Robbins, like so many interested in life coaching. Brian Tracy, Deepak Chopra, Zig Ziglar, Wayne Dyer, and last but not least Paul Scheele and Steve Pavlina followed. And the list still goes on…
If you sum up the books and programs I mentioned above, you find common themes about the: Clear definition of goals, thinking on paper, increasing self-confidence, or conquering fear of failure. I noticed that while all these programs all contain extremely useful information, actually implementing that information is where the challenge lies. It’s easy to agree with a written text, but to actually work through problems with this information is a whole other story. This is why I started this website: To help you follow through on your good intentions in order to reach your goal. All of this should be done with minimal effort, so there is still enough time left to actually live life and enjoy it to the fullest.
My training program is not unique or extremely original, and I do not claim it to be at all. Because I read so many self help books I simply picked and chose what I thought worked and compiled the methods and exercises into my 7-day training program. The focus clearly lies on taking action, because without it, all our plans remain dreams.
I encourage you to take the 7-day training program, if you have not done so yet. Just subscribe on http://www.mydailylifecoach.com. You really have nothing to lose; just give it a try and see what happens.
All the best on your journey! If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
